Holiday Art Show at ARTini's featuring Jamie Calkin & Heidi Hensley
Posted on 11/13/2012 by Claire |
On Friday, November 16th from 5-9pm, join two of Athens’ most renowned local artists for a Pop-Up Gallery at ARTini’s Art Lounge in Downtown Athens.
Jamie Calkin specializes in bringing buildings and street scenes to life with ink and vivid watercolors. He has been commissioned to capture a plethora of Athens landmarks, including a 64-foot-long mural depicting UGA scenes in the UGA Tate Center. Jamie has confessed that from Five Points to Normaltown and everything in-between, Athens is his favorite place to work. Below are some fantastic examples of Jamie’s work and a preview of the brilliance you will see on Friday:

Heidi Hensley , a born and bred Georgian, is passionate about painting street scenes and architecture, abstracts, and collegiate landmarks. Heidi’s art is inspired by the imperfect beauty of everyday items and landscapes. To capture this notion, she utilizes blended colors, sketcky brush work, and simple lines and shapes. Heidi’s creations have ensnared the attention and hearts of many and are sure to do the same when you have the privilege of seeing them on Friday. Below are just a few samples of Heidi’s magnificent work:

Come peruse this whimsical artwork that celebrates the local flavor of Athens while you enjoy wine, cheese, and the musical stylings of Red Oak Southern String Band . They are a Watkinsville/Athens based acoustic music group that play a fusion of original tunes, bluegrass, folk, blues, and contemporary rock who will be sure to get you in the “TGIF” mood.

Jamie Calkin will also be offering a special on half-price commissions. Commission a painting for 50% or give one as a gift certificate!
Don’t miss this chance to see the work of the ONLY painters featured in guide2athens in a show together! It’s the perfect event to soak in some Athens pride just in time to cheer on the Dawgs against Georgia Southern! Be sure to check out the Facebook event page here for more details.
See you at ARTini’s Art Lounge for a fabulous night.

My computer is kind of funky, but it looks like you posetd a picture of Dan Deacon in association with this post. Was that random or intentional? As opposed to many of his peers, Dan Deacon has, to my knowledge, never willingly found himself in the company of any corporate bedfellows. He's got credibility to spare in that arena.
