Every morning, Athens Bagel Co. kettle boils housemade dough and bakes what has been claimed as the South’s best bagel. Using local ingredients like honey from The UGA Bee Lab and Stripling’s sausage out of Moultrie, it’s easy to see how ABC has become an integral part of the Athens food community.
Offering seasonal specialties, traditional hot breakfast sandwiches and Nova lox platters, along with the more inventive Bagel Brei (rhymes with “try”–as in, you have to try it!) which is a cousin of French Toast made from plain bagels, Athens Bagel Co. opens at 7 a.m. on weekdays, 8 a.m. on weekends, and serves their full menu daily until 3 p.m.
