Hilltop Grille is the life-long dream of Athens resident Chris Lloyd. He and his business partner, Rick Pennell, opened “Hilltop” in November 2002. “I wanted to open a
restaurant that Athens could call its’ own,” says Lloyd. “When you want to show people from out of town what Athens is all about, you don’t want to take them to the same franchise restaurant they have back home. When I went to UGA back in the 70s, everyone went to Poss’s out on the Atlanta Highway. I want to fill that void.”
