The Georgia Theatre is one of the premiere live music venues in the South and a staple of downtown Athens for generations. A tragic fire gutted the historic building in 2009 and the spirit of the theatre prevailed with a restored and improved five level venue featuring state of the art sound.
Since reopening in 2011, acts such as My Morning Jacket,Alabama Shakes, Modest Mouse, STS9, Dwight Yoakam, Widespread Panic, Jenny Lewis & Spoon have graced the stage. The Theatre’s Rooftop restaurant and bar is one of the most desirable hangout spots in Athens.
Along with panoramic views of downtown, it also features southern-inspired cuisine, dance parties and intimate shows with up-and-coming artists.
